As I sat down to write this blog, I realized that this will be the last piece of work I create for Bluestone during my three semesters here. Along with that, it will be one of the last works I complete for my college career. A mix of emotions washed over me, both excitement and sadness, knowing that I was taking a step forward but also leaving behind an organization and university that gave me so much. Bluestone, without a doubt, has been the best part of my college experience.
This semester, I had the honor and privilege to serve on the executive board as Firm Director. Watching the firm grow and accomplish its goals was the highlight of my last semester at James Madison University. However, it is not the graphics we create, the newsletters we produce, the stories we pitch, or the countless other works we accomplish that have been my favorite part of Bluestone. Simply put, the best part of being in Bluestone is having the chance to work with my fellow Bluestonians. Getting the chance to know and work with each and every employee has been a truly amazing experience. Working with like-minded students who strive to produce their best work in everything they do has motivated me to become better with everything I do.
When I hear the word “Bluestonian” several words come to mind: hardworking, innovative, leaders, creative, and so many more. Being part of Bluestone means you possess all these traits and more.
Before I leave, I would like to give one piece of advice that I have learned from my time at Bluestone. Create relationships and friendships with not only your peers but also your professors and advisors. Branching out and forming relationships not only helps make your college experience richer but is the best way to help yourself in the future. The friendships I have created are what I will cherish most about Bluestone and JMU.
I would like to thank everyone that I have had the opportunity to work with at Bluestone for helping me become the best version of myself that I can be. I am incredibly proud of all the amazing work we were able to accomplish! To those of you returning in Spring 2022, I look forward to seeing all the amazing work you continue to create. As always, remember, once a Bluestonian, always a Bluestonian.
